Ink.
A major milestone for me--the first large-scale pen-and-ink creation. There was a distinctly wonderful moment in its inception where I was listening to John Denver early in the morning and feeling a freedom of being able to do much more detail than I imagined due to the scope and size of the piece. It felt something like an opening in my life being expressed. There was no plan in executing this except for some straight lines and shapes which guided the form. One could interpret this as someone who is sleeping and having to deal with the vagaries of the unconscious...or maybe not. I am gratified when a piece approaches meaning, but eludes it completely--I tend to dislike overt symbolism (but not always).
